Paphos                     for map

Cyprus Beach Scene Paphos or Pafos, boasts a rich cultural background and natural environment, majestic scenery, exquisite beaches, archaeological and historical treasures as well as its hospitable villages which retain the traditional architecture and folklore. These qualities, make Paphos and ideal destination for tourists from all over the world and for local tourists from other parts of the island. Paphos is the fastest growing town on the island and has earned a reputation as being an exceptional environmentally friendly area for raising a family. Its growth is attributed to its panoramic scenery, desirable homes, neighbourhoods, lifestyles and accessibility to all amenities, that includes professional services and medical centres which meet the needs of the town. The small harbour with its traditional charm is appreciated by visitors all year round through a number of restaurants and cafes that overlook the promenade and the sea.

Renowned for its love of sports, Cyprus is no amateur when it comes to providing golf courses to suit all tastes. Golfers seeking warm breaks in the east Mediterranean have been turning to Cyprus, the so-called new jewel in the crown, for fresh golf course challenges in stunning and relaxing settings.

There is-
Minthis Hills Golf Club
Founded in 1994 on the hills of Tsada, set on the grounds of 12th century monastery, in a verdant valley. Created by Donald Steel and renovated by Mackenzie + Ebert in 2006/07, it plays to a par 71 and measures 5828 meters. Situated on the outskirts of Paphos.
The Secret Valley Golf Club is probably the most prestigious golf course in Cyprus, located in the famous area of Petra tou Romiou, the birthplace of Aphrodite, 18km east of Paphos and 49km west of Limassol. The golf course measures 5,904m and plays to a par 71, and players without a handicap certificate can play after noon on request, depending on availability.
The Vikla Golf and Country Club was founded in 1992 and is situated near the village of Vikla in Cyprus, close to Larnaca and a 20km drive from Limassol Par 68 (5,250yd) Handicap None required.
In addition to the other wonderful courses on Cyprus, a further golf course is planned at Tersefanou, which is a village just outside Larnaca. Scheduled for completion in 2010, the golf course at Tersefanou Golf & Country Club is expected to be PGA approved and will boast a five-star hotel and spa facilities. .

The Tombs of the Kings, whilst not actually the burial place of ancient royalty, is worthy of the name none the less. Within this vast expanse of land, instead of the kings, would have instead been other high officials and rich citizens. Although all of the tombs have been plundered, what is left is still a very impressive impression of life (after-life?), back in the fourth century. The larger tombs in this "complex" are awesome, carved out of solid rock and with a view for the inhabitants that would make anyone among the living jealous!

The Akamas Peninsula located in the far west of Cyprus. Paphos is the closest major city to this area of outstanding natural beauty. A day may not be enough to explore the deep gorges the wild landscape and the sandy bays. This is an area of great biodiversity and ecological significance. Home to 530 plant species, a third of the total for Cyprus, 126 of which are endemic to the island Cyprus. It remains largely unspoilt to date mainly thanks to its inaccessibility.
